Esta semana Jorge Patiño se dirigió al club sobre el tema de desarrollo de cuadro social, los problemas y estrategias. Estuvo acompañado por su esposa Pati quien también habló sobre asuntos de miembresía.
Mariana Day presentó una actualización a través de conferencia telefónica Skype sobre las reuniones que ha tenido con los clubes en California con respecto al proyecto Zacualpan.(vea articulo mas abajo)

Mariana Day gave an update via Skype conference call on the meetings she has had with the clubs in California regarding the Zacualpan project. (see her full report below)

TALLER DE COMPUTACION en EL MONTEON
Secundaria Tierra & Libertad
 En mayo, Zobeída Barrera,co-presidente de Los Amigos de La Peñita, solicitó ayuda de Los Amigos y el Club Rotario Jaltemba para la Secundaria Tierra y Libertad en El Monteón. La escuela estaba en peligro de perder 10 computadoras nuevas que la SEP había otorgado pero no se las entregaban sin la instalación eléctrica a los estándares de la SEP. La asociación de padres donaron su tiempo para las mesas de triplay y la SEP se encargó de instalación de computadoras pero faltaba la instalación eléctrica. Club Rotario Jaltemba se unió con Los Amigos de La Peñita para contribuir los diez mil pesos faltantes para asegurar que no se perdiera esta oportunidad.
De parte de los estudiantes, maestros y padres de familia:

Computer Room in El Monteon
Tierra & Libertad Secundary School
 This past May, Zobeída Barrera, co-president of Los Amigos de La Peñita asked Los Amigos and Rotary Club Jaltemba to help Tierra & Libertad Secundary school in El Monteon. The school had received a SEP (Department of Education) grant for 10 new computers, the parent association had volunteered to build the work benches but the school was in danger of losing the grant if they didn’t have the electrical installation done according to SEP standards. Rotary Club Jaltemba and Los Amigos got together to donate the $10,000 pesos needed to do the electrical and receive the installation of the computers. On behalf of the students, teachers and parents:

Factoring climate, expat community, cost of living, housing, health care, access to the U.S. and culture and leisure. AARP voted Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as the undisputed favorite winning out over locations in France, Portugal, Panama and Italy. See retire abroad article.
The coastal communities of La Penita, Rincon Gauyabitos and Chacala are but a blink of the eye north of Puerto Vallarta. They have the advantage of providing a more tranquil life-style while offering easy access to all the Puerto Vallarta amenities. Tell your northern friends in the U.S. and Canada. Tell your friends in Mexico. In fact, embrace your friends with the good news. Many of your friends may already be Rotarians. Some of them may know about Rotary International. If your friends are not Rotarians, the good news is, they can come to live in Mexico and make a difference as a Rotarian.

CBTA #107 Zacualpan

El martes 17 de agosto, Grier Graff del Club de Berkeley celebró una cena de bienvenida en su hogar para los rotarios visitantes (Helen & Shaw, LaDonn, Teri, Isabel y Mariana), junto con los rotarios de Berkeley que han trabajado con nosotros en Chacala. Llegué temprano y trabajé con Grier en nuestra presentación en Power Point para la reunión del miércoles. La cena fue encantadora y nos dio la oportunidad de hablar sin la limitación de tiempo de una sesión oficial. Grier y yo dimos la presentación a este pequeño grupo – sus preguntas nos ayudó a refinar nuestra presentación.
 Los fondos para este proyecto: Berkeley Rotary se compromete con $ 24,250 USD, Shawnee, Condado de Johnson & Kalispell se han comprometido con $5,500 dólares y el grupo de Middletown ha solicitado por una cantidad adicional de $5,000 USD de subvención de Distrito para más equipos y necesidades de computacioin – esto es además a sus originales $17,000 dólares para equipo y artículos de cocina.
La reunión el miércoles 18 de agosto, nos fue muy bien con la presentación y tuvimos buena respuesta de la membresía 1) aprobar el gasto y el viaje a México, 2) la planificación preliminar para el viaje – esperamos que 22 rotarios para cada una de las 2 semanas (3 semanas es posible si es lo suficientemente la gente se registre) en febrero de 2011 3) Middletown el Club de Helen’s va a enviar uno 5 a 6 rotarios mas. El grupo de Shawnee viene el 22 de octubre al 2 de noviembre, 2010, así que esperamos que el Club de Jaltemba estas fechas disponibles para ayudar en todo lo que puedan.

Ahora sólo tenemos que hacer un calendario de trabajo, nombrar los líderes del proyecto de la escuela, los padres de la asociación y el ejido. Estamos seguros que este será un excelente proyecto.

Zacualpan CBTA #107 Update

On Tues 8/17, Grier Graff of the Berkeley Club held a welcome dinner at his home for the visiting Rotarians (Helen & Shaw, LaDonn, Teri, Elizabeth & Mariana) along with Berkeley Rotarians who worked with us in Chacala . I arrived early and worked with Grier on our power point presentation for the meeting on Wed. The dinner was lovely and gave us a chance to talk without the time constraint of a formal meeting. Grier and I gave the presentation to this small group – the questions asked helped us refine our presentation.
Funds for this project: Berkeley Rotary is committing to $24,250 USD, Shawnee, Johnson County & Kalispell have committed to $5,500 USD and the Middletown group has put in for an additional $5,000 USD District grant application for more computers and IT necessities – this is in addition to their original $17,000 for computer and kitchen items.
The Wed. 8/18 meeting presentation went very well and we had good response from the membership 1) approving the expenditure and trip to Mexico, 2) preliminary planning for the trip – we expect 22 Rotarians for each of the 2 weeks (possible 3 wks if enough folks sign up) in Feb. 2011 3) Helen’s Middletown Club will be sending an additional 5-6 Rotarians as well. The Shawnee group will come on Oct. 22-Nov 2, 2010 so we hope the Jaltemba Club will clear these dates to be available to help in any way they can.

VISITA DEL GOBERNADOR LUIS MADUEÑO PELLEGRIN
miércoles 8 de septiembre
El próximo miércoles tenemos la visita del gobernador Luis Madeueño a nuestro club. El próposito de la visita es conocer a nuestro club. Desafortunadamente por cuestiones de trabajo en Los Angeles no podré asistir personalmente, sin embargo gracias a Arturo y Johan y la alta tecnológia estaré presente via Skype. El orden del día es el desayuno a la hora acostumbrada, una reunión con la directiva, revisar nuestras metas y como arancamos este año y por último una visita a los kinders Las Cabras y La Colmena.
GOVENOR LUIS MADUEÑO PELLEGRIN CLUB VISIT

Next Wednesday is district governor Luis Madueño’s visit to our club. The purpose of the visit is to get to know us better. Unfortunately, due to work in Los Angeles I will not be present physically, but thanks to Arturo, Johan and technology I’ll be there via Skype. The agenda for that day is regular breakfast meeting, an executive session right afte and a tour of Las Cabras and La Colmea kindergartens.

El próximo miércoles 8 de septiembre nos visita el gobernador Luis Madueño. Con solo dos meses del año, aun estamos trabajando sobre nuestras metas para este año, entre ellas esta el completar el proyecto de la Preparatoria CBTA #107 de Zacualpan. Mariana nos reportó la semana pasada que ya son 14 clubes hermanos que se únen a este proyecto, además tenemos el proyecto con Oak Bay Rotary en Canada para rehabilitar el kinder Luis Pasteur en La Peñita y el club de Kalispal, Montana esta haciendo la solicitud para dar becas a estudiantes y ofrecer cursos de salud para jovenes y cursos de liderazgo en La Peñita y en Chacala. En octubre tenemos la Feria de Hermandad para presentar los proyectos del club para el próximo año. Así que por favor propongan proyectos para presentar.
Por úlitmo, por favor no dejen de asistir este a SEREFOR el seminario de formación rotario este sabado 4 de septiembre en Biblioteca Los Mangos en Vallarta. Y si no han asistido a un desayuno distrital haganlo este 11 de septiembre.

Next Wednesday September 8th, Gov. Luis Madueño visits Jaltemba Bay Rotary Club. With only two months into the year, we are still working on our goals for this year, including completing the project at Preparatoria CBTA # 107, Zacualpan. As Mariana reported last week there are now 14 clubs who have joined this project, we also have the Oak Bay Rotary, BC Canada project to repair and remodel the Louis Pasteur kindergarten and the Kalispal Rotary Club in Montana is submitting an application to provide scholarships, offer health courses and leadership courses for La Peñita and Chacala students. In October we have the Brotherhood Fair to present projects of the club for next year. So please propose projects for submission.
Lastly, please attend the Rotary training seminar – SEREFOR this Saturday September 4th at Biblioteca Los Mangos in Puerto Vallarta, and if you haven’t attended a district breakfast do it this September 11th where there will be a presentation and a Mexican Independence Day Celebration!
